Summary: The series (formerly known as “Le Grand”), shot in English entirely on location in Paris, stars Jean Reno as Joachim “Jo” St.-Clair, a veteran French detective tackling the city’s most challenging murder cases, each tied to an iconic Parisian location, including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Catacombs.
Emmy-winning producer René Balcer (“Law & Order”, “Law & Order - Criminal Intent”) serves as the showrunner of “Jo”, which he created with Malina Detcheva and Franck Ollivier. Directors of the first season include Charlotte Sieling (“Bron/Broen” a.k.a. “The Bridge”), Stefan Schwartz (“Dexter”) and Kristoffer Nyholm (“Forbrydelsen” a.k.a. “The Killing”).

Episode 1: Notre Dame

Summary: The lifeless body of the famous organist Johan Van Vliet is found at the foot of Judgment portal of Notre-Dame. His ears were pierced and his face set towards the statue of the angel who plays the trumpet to sound the alarm of the dead. Outstanding musician, Van Vliet was also an egocentric man known to be a womanizer ... In making the victim symbolically deaf to the call of the angel, the killer seems to have wanted to prevent the victim of divine mercy ... It is the first indication of an overwhelming case of revenge.

Summary: In a parking lot in the Place Vendome, firefighters emerge the charred body of Philip Roquin, accounting for a jewelery instead. His wife admits that he was kidnapped and that the kidnappers asked for a ransom. The investigation will lead Jo St. Clair in a prison where some Lisette was incarcerated.

Summary: A young gallerist, Marie-Eve Lambert, Place des Vosges lies, killed by a violent blow to the head. Believing at first to a crime of passion, Jo discovers in the hand of the victim leading a mysterious message at the National Archives, where Marie-Eve was researching resistant deported to Auschwitz.

Summary: Wednesday late afternoon. Leaving the Palais Garnier, where he had just dropped his daughter to her dance class, Raymond Sittler is assaulted on the steps of the Opera. A few seconds later, before convulsing, he collapses and dies on the porch ... A time suspected his mistress is murdered at Barbès-Rochechouart station poisoned. The investigation leads Jo to the prestigious Sorbonne University and to the door of a troubled student and his ambitious girlfriend.

Summary: A young geneticist was stabbed in the Catacombs. On his back is engraved a Satanist symbol. Jo is convinced that this is a crime of passion. But the case takes an unexpected turn when the team discovers that the victim was conducting experiments with plague bacteria recovered from the skeletons of the catacombs. The trail leads to a mysterious woman who could be a serial killer at large. It already seems to have chosen his next victim - the family of a politician first plan.
