Summary: In the aftermath of the Irish uprising, the British vowed to punish the rebels with impunity. Ireland now under martial law saw that the nationalists were tried with no legal counsel or defense. Putting many to death by firing squads over the next five days and leaving the people of Ireland confused, upset, and ready for change.
