Since then Jean has taken on her husband’s mantle as, a solver of mysteries. Murder, mayhem and Jean Blake are a potent mix and anything can and will happen.

Episode 1: Ghost Stories Part 1

Summary: 1963. With Dr Lucien Blake now missing, presumed dead, Jean Blake has been left behind and bereaved in a changing Ballarat, and a changing world. In the aftermath of the assassination of President Kennedy, chief superintendent Matthew Lawson finds himself confronted with not one but two grisly murders, and no obvious link. Jean may lack Lucien's forensic skills, not to mention his official role at the police station, but she is determined to prove to Matthew that she more than makes up for it in other ways. No one knows this town better than her.

Summary: With the police seemingly no closer to closing the murder cases that have shaken Ballarat, their suspicion is aroused by some articles about unsolved cases. Could these murders be linked to something long ago? Meanwhile Jean's compassion is the only thing standing in the way of Matthew convicting the man who fell through the ceiling of the abandoned house. Could he really be guilty?
