Summary: In the Alps, right on the German-Austrian border, a cruelly staged corpse is found. The two countries then send two detectives to investigate the case. For young Commissioner Ellie Stocker from Berchtesgaden it is the first major challenge of her career. Her colleague Gedeon Winter from Austria, on the other hand is about to retire from the police. Shortly thereafter, more symbolically arranged bodies are found at the scene. The pressure grows on Ellie and Gedeon to understand the motives of the serial killer to stop more murders. But as they investigate, they penetrate deeper into the forest, valleys and archaic customs of the region and also into the delusional world of the murderer.

Episode 1: Darkness

Summary: In the mountains, a strangely staged body is found exactly on the German-Austrian border. Both countries send their respective investigators. The young commissioner Ellie Stocker from Berchtesgaden is to work with the experienced Viennese detective Gedeon Winter. While Ellie is highly motivated, the cynical Gedeon has lost all motivation for police work. When the press releases a shot of the victim recorded just before the murder, the two investigators believe the killer is pursuing a bigger plan.
Episode 2: The Red Season

Summary: While Ellie and Gedeon continue their investigation, a businessman is brutally murdered. They encounter parallels to the previous case and trace clues to the possible killer. Gradually, the investigators recognizes that the killer is insidious and cold-blooded. A witness claims to have seen a person wearing a Krampus mask. In addition, Ellie and Gedeon are alerted to a message from the murderer. "The Red Season."
Episode 3: The Man From The Forest

Summary: Ellie and Gedeon familiarise themselves with the history of the Krampus legend. According to foldklore, the fearsome figure accompanies St. Nicholas and punishes the naughty children. At the same time, they are looking for a woman who has disappeared without a trace. Their investigation leads them to a sect that has withdrawn into a forest and is led by a man named Sebastian Brunner. The investigators believe the murderer was inspired by Brunner. Meanwhile, help comes to late for the missing woman.
Episode 4: The Bad and the Naughty

Summary: The investigating duo wants to set a trap for the murderer. They work together with the cult leader Brunner. Ellie and Gedeon are prepared to push the boundaries. On the Internet, they spread information about a copycat and hope the killer contacts Brunner. But the killer is one step ahead of them. While Ellie gets involved in an affair with her married boss, Gedeon is caught up in his past as a corrupt drug investigator.
Episode 5: Masks

Summary: With their trap set, Ellie and Gedeon are about to seize the killer, when he suddenly goes to ground. The German investigator and the Austrian commissioner follow up clues from other murder cases. However, the two different detectives do not suspect that the killer has a much bigger goal in mind.
Episode 6: From Flesh and Blood

Summary: The city is shaken by an attack, there are injured and dead everywhere. Ellie and Gedeon learn how the Krampus killer plans his next step. The police are being pressured by the public, the media and politicians. In addition, the killer announces that Ellie has an affair with her boss.
Episode 7: The Storm

Summary: In a shootout, the police seize and kill a man wearing a Krampus mask. Gedeon does not believe it's the wanted serial killer. He is convinced that the real culprit is still at large. But after months of fear, the public, politicians and the media want to finally put an end to the horror. The file is closed. Even Ellie does not believe her former partner.
Episode 8: Engerl

Summary: A year has passed since the Krampus murderer was apparently caught and shot. When the body of a woman named Malica is found, Gedeon senses the Krampus Killer has struck again. At first, nobody shares his suspicion. But his reinvigorated eagerness convinces Ellie to pick up an unofficial investigation on their own. In doing so, Gedeon makes a frightening discovery and is eventually caught up in his past.
